Popularised by the Full Moon Party, Koh Phangan has much more to offer and is still relatively undiscovered. Outside of the full moon the island is far quieter and just waiting to be explored. 

The peace and quiet in Sri Thanu village, make it an ideal place to find yourself and the abundance of spiritual awakening opportunities with many visiting knowledgeable Guru's making this their favourite location across the globe. 

 

Anahata Yoga Shala is located on the West side of the island - where the sunsets -  Sri Thanu village "Beautiful all the time"!

The Yoga Shala is located about 30m from the beach -  Bovy Beach, in the neighborhood of Sri Thanu on magical island - Koh Phangan, Gulf of Thailand.  Close by you can walk to the famous Zen Beach - where you can join in on the daily Kirtan and musical Sunset Sessions on the beach over looking the blissful sunsets. 

 

Sri Thanu is also know as the Conscious Community - where most of the Yoga, Tantra and Vegan Conscious Restaurants and other intresting places and happenings of the island.  Surrounded by a lot of jungle and coconut trees - keeping the whole Shala cool, along with mosquito nets covering the shala, allowing the student to Shivasana in peace and calm. 

About 20 minutes drive from Thong Sala - Pier and the main town.  Koh Phangan is a little smaller and far less developed than her sister island Koh Samui and much larger than Koh Tao.  The elder Buddhist Monks belief is that Koh Phangan island carries the energy of Transformation  - and since it is located under many crystal rocks - it is no wonder that there is so much Yoga & Tantra on the magical island of Transformation.  Often "Farrang" (tourist - name in thai) come to the magical island of transformation - and don't want to leave - Koh Phangan is like "Hotel California"  - "you can check out any time ... but you can never leave"  People keep coming back and LOVE IT!

Accommodation

We have negotiated to pre-block book a limited number of rooms / bungalows / houses - for our on our Retreats and Events specially for our students & yogis participating on a pre-booked retreat, we don't do accommodations only. For some heart opening, life changing moments take a look at the retreat we offer.

Anahata Yoga Shala has various accommodations  available.  Close by on the property about 30m, are  self-contained beach bungalows 1-2-3 bedrooms;  with kitchen, wifi, service cleaning.  Neighboring resorts very close by Anahata Yoga Shala, have beach bungalows without kitchen.   Bookings are depending on which is available at time of inquiry. Rooms will be held until a certain period of time while waiting for the deposit. You will be advised accordingly at time of inquiry. 

Food

Healthy Vegan Brunch is included in the course There are also many delicious Vegan, Gluten Free & Vegetarian - Restaurants to choose from.  For the students still on a non-vegetarian diet there is fresh fish, poultry & red meat available around the village, also within walking distance from Anahata Yoga Shala.

Know before you go -

Visas differ from country to country - check out your requirements from your country - some countries you can arrive and receive a 30 day visa for free on arrival.  Other countries you have to pay & or apply in your own country, prior to departure. Some countries are given 2-6 months (your homework - find out from your local Thai Consulate General your visa requirements).

The course is 28 days it is intensive - especially if you are NOT USED TO DOING 2 yoga asana classes a day, get into your practice.  Full attendance of all the classes & weekly test and teaching exams are required in order for you to receive your international Yoga Alliance Certificate - we do not sell Yoga Teacher Certificates.

 

If your coming from far away - it could be advisable to arrive a few days early to recover from traveling and settle yourself in before you start your course.  If you choose to come a week early - this would require you to apply for a visa before you arrive in Thailand or you could renew it on the sister island of Samui (30min. ferry ride will not even take more than half day) this will give you 60 days in total. Giving you enough time to arrive a week or few days early and time afterwards to explore the island and or do some other self-development courses for your "healing tool box for yoga teachers".

Koh Phangan Weather -

Koh Phangan, tropical jungle island in Thailand, very close to the Equator. 

The weather on Koh Phangan is best described by the average temperature of 25 ℃ – 34 ℃, with lots of sunshine, high humidity and, as the word tropical rainforest implies, the occasional showers. The average annual rainfall is about 1,800 millimeter, February has the lowest average of about 34 millimeter whereas November has the highest average of about 450 millimeter.  

The weather is pretty constant during the year but roughly there are three main seasons on Koh Phangan:

The dry season (mid December – April) when it is mostly dry and relatively cool

The hot season (May – September), when it can be very hot with occasional storms

The wet season (October – mid December), when there can be a strong and windy monsoon and a lot of rain.  The last season 2016 the rain started middle December and ended late January.  The locals say this happens every 10-20 years.

Like in many countries the weather on Koh Phangan can be unpredictable and local: on one part of  the island you might lie on the beach while on the other side you may have to shelter for a scattered thundershower. If you like a tan, be aware that the sun can be extremely strong. Even on a cloudy day you can get sunburned easily.

 

Tips for respecting the local culture -

Buddhism is the main religion and the Thai people are very conservative by nature. It is therefore important to respect local culture by dressing modestly when away from the beaches, and respect the local community by wearing proper bathing suits on the beach.

Koh Phangan's residents speak Thai but English is widely spoken in bars, restaurants and resorts. 

The island has a population of roughly 12,000 people and is 125 square kilometres in size

How to get there?

Arrival by airplane

You may book your flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok. From there, you may fly to Samui Airport (USM). Between Bangkok and Koh Samui, there are many daily services run by Bangkok Airways. Flying time about 50 minutes. A connecting ferry will have to be taken from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan, for about 300bht. one way.

 

From Bangkok, you can also fly first to Surat Thani Airport (URT). Air Asia flies from Bangkok to Surat Thani daily, flying time is about 50 minutes. The transfer from Surat Thani Airport (URT) to Donsak ferry port is by coach or taxi and takes about one hour and 30 minutes. At Donsak, you transfer to the Raja ferry to Koh Phangan which takes three hours. Whilst the overall journey is longer than flying directly to Koh Samui, it can be cheaper to fly via Surat Thani, depending on the time of year.

 

Arrival by bus

There are many bus services from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Most of these are sleeper buses. They can be booked from travel agencies in Bangkok or by going to the central bus station (Sia Thai). The journey takes about ten hours to Donsak, the ferry port for boats going to Koh Phangan. From Donsak, the journey takes around three hours to Koh Phangan. Usually, the ferry is included in the price of the bus.

 

Arrival by ferry

There are ferries from Samui To Koh Phangan. The Seatran ferry leaves Koh Samui at 08:00 and 13:00. The Lomprayah ferry leaves Koh Samui at 08:00, 11:15, 12:30, and 17:00. The Seatran pier is located near the airport, approximately a ten-minute drive and the Lompraya pier is located 50 minutes from the airport. The Lompraya pier is 50 minutes from the airport. Please take this into consideration when booking the rest of your journey. Ferries arrive in Koh Phangan at Thong Sala pier.

 

For returning back, the Seatran ferry leaves Koh Phangan at 11:00 and 16:30. The Lomprayah ferry leaves Koh Phangan at 07:15, 11:00, 12:00, and 16:20. -  timetable changes be sure to check the internet for updated times.

 

From Koh Samui airport, there is a shuttle service going to the ferry ports for Koh Phangan. This is usually available as a free service. Please ask for this service when you purchase the ticket for the ferry in the Seatran / Lompraya ferry counter as you exit Koh Samui airport.

 

Arrival by train

Trains leave Bangkok several times daily, the journey time is about 12 hours. Sleeping booths are available for some services. Leaving the train at Surat Thani, the transfer by coach or taxi from Surat Thani station to Donsak pier takes about one hour. From Donsak, the ferry journey takes three hours to Koh Phangan.

 

There are two companies that run luxury coach services from Bangkok to Chumphon, which takes about six hours. At Chumphon, you transfer to a large express boat that stops at Koh Tao before arriving at Koh Phangan. The boat journey from Chumphon to Koh Phangan takes about three hours.

 

Arrival by taxi

Local taxis are available from the pier. Please inform the taxi to go to Anahata Yoga Shala, Bovy Beach Srithanu. Taxis are approximately 300 THB per person
